We
often talk about "Best Practices" in emergency medical services, but
rarely look beyond our borders to gain insight into the most logical approach
for how EMS could be more effectively provided. I recently had the incredible
opportunity to ride along with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Trust, a division
of the United Kingdom's National Health Service. This experience provided a
unique perspective on how the appropriate alignment of goals, coupled with a
true 'global approach' to health system delivery, can be combined to produce a
highly effective mobile healthcare delivery system.
